Welcome to the monthly Vibe Check! The blog where we talk about our experiences from the past month, highlighting the things that made it special!
Wesley
Yakuza 3 is a game that brought a lot of new settings and mechanics to the Yakuza series. Kazuma Kiryu now lives a comfortable life on a sunny beach in Okinawa, managing an orphanage full of children.
After about a year however, things get tough. Two bills are being pushed: One for building a resort, and one for building a military base on the patch of land Kiryu's orphanage rests on. Somehow, the Yakuza are involved in this ordeal as well!
It's up to Kiryu to solve this problem the only way he knows how: With his fists!
Wesley: "This month I finally continued the Yakuza series with the third installment! All the games are now finally on Steam, and I've been enjoying my first time playing through them all. I like the new setting in Okinawa, as well as seeing Kiryu alternate between beating up goons and taking care of the children at his orphanage. I've written about it before, but I really recommend trying out this game series! (there's a summer sale on them right now!)"
Quentin
Whirled, which originally ran from 2007 to 2017, was a flash-based website where you could hang out with friends, play games, decorate rooms, create your own avatars with Flash and more!
However, with the long-looming incoming death of Flash ahead, the site never having made a profit and because it was losing traffic, Whirled was shut down in 2017. It didn't take long for a revival project though!
'Whirled.club' launched the following year, almost completely identical to the original Whirled, completely fan-hosted. Even well after the death of Flash, it's still completely playable through its own downloadable client.
Quentin: "I'm back at it again. Now playing another childhood favourite: Whirled! When I was around 11-13 and was first able to go on the internet I'd go onto this lovely game and play it all day long (with Wesley too)!"
James
Mango the office dog is here! He's an adopted dog all the way from Greece, here to lift our spirits during work! Originally abandoned by its owner, Mango is now finally getting the love he deserves from James. You'll be seeing him a lot in our stories!
James: "Let me introduce you to Mango, our new office dog! Mango is an adopted rescue dog from Greece. Can I get an owa owa from Mango?"
Dave
The Covid restrictions are slowly easing up, and with that, theme parks are finally opening back up again! Earlier this June, we went on a trip to the Efteling theme park! With lots of medieval and fairy-tale-based rides, it's really a unique place to be!
Dave: "The work trip to the Efteling was super fun! It's been so long since I went to an amusement park. My favourite ride was definitely the double rollercoaster Joris en de Draak, where you compete against the other track!"
Lishu
Lishu took some time to broaden her OC Peaches' wardrobe this month! Now she can finally stop wearing the same outfit every single day. It only took a couple years... but I'm sure she won't mind! Check out the new fit below!
Lishu: "I finally gave my original character and mascot, Peaches, a new dress after over 7 years. 😳 She deserved it since I want to make more art of her. Imagine having the same outfit for years on end... She doesn't have to suffer that anymore! Give your characters some love, get them new fits!"
Thanks for reading! Hopefully we inspired you to check out something new. Stay tuned for next month's issue!
