Woah, the winter season went by really fast!
So many good shows were airing this season, so let’s see what I’ll talk about with you guys. :)
I was unable to keep up with all the shows I was watching, but the following three I have completed!
I feel like some of these shows went under the radar, so here I am trying to bring more attention to them!
Akebi's Sailor Uniform
Ever since our protagonist, Komichi Akebi, was young, she always adored sailor uniforms. She loves them so much, she even went as far to ask her mom to sew one for her if she succeeds in getting into her chosen prestigious school, Roubai Academy.
And so, when she got accepted into her chosen school, Komichi was ecstatic!
However, unfortunate news has reached the poor girl's ears. The middle school no longer uses sailor uniforms as its dress code, making Komichi stand out from all her other schoolmated. Despite the setback, the school granted Komichi permission to continue wearing the previous attire.
With a lot of confidence, Komichi meets her new and fascinating classmates as they experience school life together!
This show might’ve aired in the winter season, but all it did was give you warm summer vibes.
It was so incredibly soothing, the interactions between characters felt real and casual, this show was just such a blessing to have seen.
Not a lot might happen, but it’s not always needed. If you need a good show to calm down with, Akebi-chan is definitely one for you!
Dress Up Darling
This shows protagonist, Wakana Gojou, spends his free time perfecting the art of making hina dolls, hoping to one day reach his grandfather’s level of masterful craftwork.
While all his fellow classmates keep themselves busy with pop culture, Gojou finds his time off making clothing for his dolls.
Even though hina dolls are what keeps him busy, he tries as hard as possible to keep this hobby a secret from his fellow teenagers, as he believes he would be made fun of if it got revealed.
Now enter our fashionable and gorgeous girl, Marin Kitagawa, Gojou’s classmate.
Her confidence is a strong contrast compared to Gojou’s.
It would defy common sense for the friendless Gojou to even come close to Kitagawa, who is always surrounded by her peers.
However, the unimaginable happens when Kitagawa discovers Gojou’s skills with a sewing machine and immediately confesses to him about her own hobby, cosplay!
She decides to ask for his help, as her sewing skills are close to none.
As Gojou and Kitagawa work together on multiple costumes, they can’t help but grow close, even though their lives are so different from one another.
Listen, I might be biased but… This was my absolute favorite of the winter season. So much happened in the show that you keep your attention every single second.
I’m just so in love with gyaru characters, so this was a delight to see!
The animation, the ost, everything was perfect together.
I immediately caught up with the manga as well, a second season is deserved!!
Please give us the second season, Cloverworks, please.
So everyone, take some time out of your day to give this one a try. :)
Slow Loop
Since childhood, Hiyori Yamakawa has seen her father’s various interests, but one activity she has always loved doing with him is fly fishing!
A complicated but rewarding way of catching fish. Even after him passing away, she still visits the seaside in her spare time, remembering the joy that her father’s memento brings her.
Three years after his death, Hiyori’s mother decides to remarry and arranges a dinner with her fiancé, his daughter and Hiyori to celebrate the happy moment.
Being nervous and wanting to pass the time, Hiyori goes to her usual spot to fish when a very energetic girl named Koharu Minagi suddenly decides to appear before her.
The two start to bond, with Koharu even becoming interested in fly fishing herself.
Their meeting, however, is more than just a silly coincidence, as Koharu turns out to be Hiyori’s future step-sibling!
This is only the beginning of their new treasured memories the both of them will make as they become newfound sisters.
I have no clue what it is, but this is the second show about cute anime girls fishing.. I’m all here for it.
Once again, not a lot happens, but not a lot needs to happen to make a show enjoyable.
This anime is perfect for a wind down, seeing cute girls doing cute things.
Maybe you even pick up a few new fishing tips afterwards!
So, what do you think of my picks for this anime season?
Are there shows I might have overlooked?
