The end is near for both of our interns!
They have supported us since February until the end of this month.
We'll miss them dearly, as they're both leaving the same week. :(
We'll always remember you two!
Let's introduce the first intern of the year, Alice!
So Alice, first up, let’s reintroduce yourself to the people who don’t know.
Hii, I’m Alice (22) and have been working as a graphic designer for half a year. I like video games, myths and anime of course! Besides my internship, I also work at my parents' restaurant during the weekend.
What made you choose kaomoji for your internship when you applied?
I knew of kaomoji when they were founded back in 2015 and immediately became a fan of their designs. *Time skip 7 years later* Then I found an Instagram advertisement that they were looking for a graphic designer intern and guess what? I’m a graphic designer looking for an internship! :)
Has kaomoji changed since you started your internship compared with how it was, now that it’s a year later?
Definitely! First of all, I feel like I made the (already bad) jokes even worse... Secondly, I’ve made a lot of upgrades in terms of designs!
- And in what way did it have an impact on you?
The jokes aside, I’m pretty confident in the things I create. So seeing my designs getting used so frequently makes me very proud. :D
What did you do before your internship here at kaomoji?
So I have studied graphic design for four years at Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht. After graduating I decided to keep studying and went to Hogeschool Utrecht where I study Communication Multimedia Design now.
How would you describe the role you had in the company?
Everyone does a little bit of everything. I guess you could call everyone an all-rounder, including myself. However, everyone has their own expertise and mine would be designing.
What is your best memory working for kaomoji, during this year-long internship?
Efteling was a lot of fun! It was my first time going to an amusement park in like 6+ years and I had forgotten the thrill of roller coasters. I also really enjoyed going to conventions again, I haven’t attended one in over 10 years so it was nice to experience that again. :D
And what is your worst memory? (is it the escape room by any chance?)
Nooo Lish!!! The escape room was amazing. IF I really had to pick something it would probably be something Tiktok related. Like how the team wanted to make me do a Tiktok dance...
What is the thing you’re the proudest of that you achieved during your time here?
My biggest achievement is probably the design for Yozakura. I didn’t expect me to be designing clothing when I first started my internship. The Yozakura design sold really well and I got really excited when I saw other people wearing it!! I also thought it was really cool how I got the opportunity to photograph my own designs during the shoots - as I’m not that familiar with taking pictures.
What are your plans for the future?
For now I’m going to finish my degree, I have a minor course and my graduation internship to follow. After that… I’m not really sure yet. Maybe it’s time to start working full time :))))))
Alright, let’s wrap this up. Thank you for your hard work Alice!
Thank you so much for having me and I had a really good time working here! It was super fun to work with people of the same interests and in a young team like kaomoji. ALSO, I’m very excited about the (potential) new collaborations and I’m heartbroken I’m not there to experience it!!!!
All in all 10/10 internship.
Thank you for your incredibly hard work and the many laughs, Alice!
We'll def see you around in the discord!

Alice !! You were a delight the few times we spoke and I’m glad I could buy stuff from you during the Gorinchem HMIA con… Since James had still banned me (::: Good luck with finishing your degree !!
Hello, I am John’s brother I would like to announce how much Alice means to me and John, she is the sole reason me and John are alive today. One morning, me and my brother were walking down Binley road on the way to school, she told us to go eat at the fish and chip shop called Binley Mega Chippy. so naturally since she was such a good friend we took her advice and went into Binley Mega Chippy, we quickly ordered and finished the food and our stomachs started to turn resulting in John and me taking the day off school because of that. The next day I found out on the news that the bus that me and brother were supposed to take to the school exploded due to the high temperature (global warming is real). and now she brings a smile to my face every day and gives my life meaning
Again thank you so much Alice! for being together with me and my brother in this chapter of our lives and furthermore, saving our lives. Your love is everything to me.
