Welcome to the monthly Vibe Check! The segment where we talk about our experiences from the past month, highlighting the things that made it special!
Wesley
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is the prequel to the recently released Resident Evil Village.
Protagonist Ethan Winters receives a video message from his long-missing wife Mia, urging him to come pick her up from a ranch in Louisiana. He heads over there immediately, only to find out something's turning her into a murderous monster. After fighting for his life, Ethan gets captured by the man of the house to 'join the family'.
It's up to him to outsmart and defeat this crazed family so he can save and escape with Mia!
Wesley: "This month, following the release of Resident Evil Village (RE8), I decided to play through RE7 so I don't have to walk into the sequel blindly. I haven't delved very deep into the Resident Evil series, but this game sure does feel different than the others I've played. However, I really enjoyed it and its crazy cast of characters. I highly recommend it!"

Portal is a platformer puzzle game from Valve, released in 2007.
You play as Chell, a girl who awakens in a sleep chamber as a test subject who has to utilize portals to complete several test chambers.
Unlike its sequel from 2011, this game doesn't have a ton of story and is instead almost solely focused on exploring the gameplay aspect to its fullest. And the gameplay is great!
Despite not focusing on story, it was still the birth game of one of the most memorable video characters of all time: GLaDOS! With a robot voice anyone could recognize. And who could forget the companion cube?
Quentin: "Hey so I played Portal (the first one) during a weekend and I turned out to be really short haha. It was a fun game nonetheless.
It's amazing what a cool and unique puzzle game they were able to make back in the day.
- The cake is a lie!"

Invincible is an animated series based on a comic book by Robert Kirkman, creator of 'The Walking Dead'. The show premiered on March 25th and is confirmed to get at least two more seasons.
You follow Mark Grayson, a 17-year old teenager whose dad is a world-famous superhero. Mark's goal is to follow in his father's footsteps, but when he finally gets his superpowers he quickly experiences that things are not as simple as they seem.
James: "Wow. This animated series is so good. At first glance, it looks like a typical superheroes show but holy sh-, what a ride lol. If you decide to watch the first episode, do not stop halfway through but go and watch the full episode. TW: Series may be shocking and has some gruesome moments 😦"

Apex Legends Season 9 has started, introducing a new legend with roots in Titanfall 2!
Apex Legends, which first released two years ago, is still one of the most popular battle royales out there. On May 4th the ninth season 'Legacy' started, bringing with it the new legend Valkyrie and a new 3v3 gamemode. Now you can take your battle to the skies, or fight your foes in a shorter and more compact arena experience.
Season 9 is expected to last all the way until early August, so there's plenty of time to check it out!
Dave: "Apex Legends' 9th season takes the battle to the skies with the new jetpack wielding legend Valkyrie. She's a great addition to the roster and super fun to play!"

Miitopia is an RPG game with a twist: Its cast of Mii characters are all yours to design!
A Switch remake of the former 3DS-exclusive came out on May 21st, and it's been met with very positive reception.
The character creator in particular is something that's been highly praised, as it's nothing like any other Mii editor seen before! Take one look at other people's creations and you'll see - there's an assortment of everything, from a pixel-perfect Steve to a frighteningly accurate Mr. Clean and even a near-identical Mona Lisa!
If you're the type of person to spend hours just at the character creator, this is the perfect game for you!
Lishu: "At the beginning of this month, I decided to download the demo. Little did I know I'd be playing this demo for hours. The interactions, the funny looking armour and weapons. All those things together with the gameplay lured me in. And so... I bought the game, the day after it came out. My favourite attack as the popstar class is Way Out Of Tune. It deals big damage to enemies, but also damages your own team a little, hehe. I've been playing nonstop, I might need some help."
Thanks for reading! Hopefully we inspired you to check out something new. Stay tuned for next month's issue!
